The loss of your spouse

The death of your spouse is probably the most devastating experience that you will ever have. The feeling of loss and the pain may sometimes hit so hard that you feel cut in two, as if you had lost a part of yourself. It is normal to feel sorrow when a loved one dies. It is not an illness, although mourning can seriously test your natural defence systems. Remember, it takes time to fully absorb the impact of a major loss. You never stop missing a loved one, but the pain eases after time and this allows you to go on with your life. After the loss of a loved one, we all embark on the same journey. From the first moments of shock and disbelief through the waves of grief and pain, the revisiting of the past, the regrets, the loneliness, maybe even anger and depression, to the time where it becomes possible to start to rebuild our lives.
