$1.4 million in Cowansville

January 25, 2011

Mathieu Baker invests, in 2011, in his new funeral home at 402, de la Rivière Street.

Mathieu Baker, President and owner of the Brome-Missisquoi Funeral Complex Inc., is proud to announce both his recent acquisition of the funeral establishment located at 402, de la Rivière Street in Cowansville, and the beginning of major construction at this funeral home. One million four hundred thousand dollars ($1,400,000) will be invested to make the Cowansville funeral home the place above all else to turn to for funeral services in Brome-Missisquoi. Mathieu Baker, son of Ken Baker, Bernard Dion’s grandson and great-grandson of Joseph Dion, carries on the family tradition. After acquiring the Salon funéraire Joseph Dion Ltée from his father, Ken, he founded the Brome-Missisquoi Funeral Complex Inc.

This investment will enable Mathieu to realize his vision of a funeral centre where families will be able to find all services under one roof, satisfying everyone’s unique needs. Mathieu and his team have always been known for their warmth and compassion as well as their ability to meet their clients’ needs.

Brome-Missisquoi will finally have a real funeral center where funeral services will take place entirely on site if one wishes.

Installation de Cowansville

The Cowansville funeral home will soon be equipped with:

  • Three visitation rooms where large groups will be able to gather
  • A Chapel to accommodate one hundred and fifty people, located near the memorial gardens
  • Interior columbarium with its own private entrance and balcony. Both will be overlooking the river and memorial gardens
  • Exterior columbarium, part of the memorial gardens, accessible at all time by the families
  • An area for an exterior funeral
  • A reception hall large enough to accommodate families and friends. This hall will provide access to the beautiful terrace overlooking the memorial gardens.

Installation de Bedford

Mathieu is also proud to announce that the following three local businesses are joining efforts in this major work:

  1. The architects’ team is managed by Alan Bellavance, from Atelier Bellavance of Bromont (http://www.alanbellavance.com). Alan, a well-known architect, will be able to add approximately ten thousand square feet to the existing building. This will create a great look and a link with the natural features of the site.
  2. Myke Hodgins and his team (http://www.heta.ca) took over the outdoor designs, including the memorial gardens. Myke, well-known for his expertise and achievements, will include the river, and the serenity it brings, within his designs.
  3. The general contractor is Benoit Desgens of Athena Construction Inc., (http://www.athenaconstruction.ca). Benoit, a leader in commercial construction, will help realize Mathieu’s vision.

Mathieu looks forward to inviting the Cowansville and Brome-Missisquoi families to visit the new Funeral Complex at the end of spring 2011.

Please note that although the work will begin in upcoming weeks, the Cowansville funeral home will remain open and accessible.
